We build insulated and non-insulated patios, so let’s figure out what option would work best for you! There are advantages and disadvantages to both just like everything else in the world.
A non-insulated Alumawood patio cover is an aluminum patio cover made from a single layer of aluminum panels without additional insulation. Panels are typically 2 1/2″ tall x 6″ wide with a single sheet design. They tend to be more affordable because it is less material but still gives you the shade and protection you need. Alumawood is also low maintenance compared to wood patios and is resistant to termites/rot. This type of patio comes in all of the colors which include: Graphite, Desert Sand, Spanish Brown, Latte, Mojave Tan, Adobe, White, and Sonora Beige. The disadvantage is that you are not able to walk on the roof if needed because manufacture recommends against it. It also is louder during rainstorms due to being hollow.

Insulated roof panels are made of metal or aluminum panels with steel skins and an insulating foam core. This core adds a layer of insulation which increases energy efficiency and helps to keep the patio area cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. They are more durable and you are able to walk on the roof if needed. Insulated panels are also better at protecting against heat, UV radiation, and rainfall because oil is made to withstand harsher weather. The disadvantage to this one is it only comes in 2 color options: White or Desert Sand.

Both patio covers are great and it honestly just comes down to what you are needing in a patio. We have a couple of other websites that have more information on these two types of Alumawood. You can check them out if you are wanting to get more information.
